We are constantly bombarded with tons of media content wherever we go be it through our laptop, tablet, mobile phones, tvs, and even billboards. But since we are also given options to choose what content we would consume, what do you usually go for?
Because I know that like me, you also want to make great things happen and live an impactful life, I’ve come up with a list of three lifestyle shows (personal favorites) you can catch on tv, and online, which can help you live the purposeful lifestyle you’ve always wanted.
- Live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle in the metro.
A sustainable green lifestyle in the city? Sure. Green Living showcases an array of brands, businesses, practices, projects, campaigns, activities, and pretty much everything that could make urban living lighter, fresher, and more environment friendly. All throughout 11 seasons, the show has featured social enterprises and rare finds in the metro, including quaint coffee shops and vegan restaurants, sustainable products, and healthy leisurely activities, among many others.
What I always look forward to are the saving tips and some simple household hacks to greenify my home and workspace. Also by providing options, brands, strategies, and tips, viewers are treated to a wide gamut of smarter options and actionable steps towards living an urban lifestyle that is both sustainable and healthy, not only for the viewer, but for the environment as well.
Paolo Abrera’s healthy recipes are also added bonus especially for those who prepare their own meals and bring them to work or school.
With a team of creative and vibrant millennials working behind the cameras, and Paolo’s natural flair at hosting, Green Living is a fun 30-minute magazine show that’s educational, informative, inspiring, and definitely entertaining. The fun text fonts, sound scoring, graphics, and creatively perky visual editing, make the show more engaging, especially for millennials, and young professionals.
Green Living is produced by Tripleshot Media, Inc. and airs on ANC, Tuesdays 6:30 PM, with several replays throughout the week.
- Choose smart brands and services for social good.
Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in the economy. Today, we see increased attention to MSMEs in the country, particularly in the policy level. With the support of several start-up communities, online technological innovations, and a developing environment conducive to starting small businesses, it is high time, I believe, to reconsider starting your own business and see entrepreneurship as a complementary source (if not a substitute) to employment income. But, it is also important to note that starting your own business and building your own brand is no easy feat.
What makes Shop Talk a favorite is its very core — making the business happen, and turning ideas into reality. Shop Talk places the spotlight on the entrepreneurs behind emerging brands in the local and international market. Watching the show gives you fresh insights into how brands are developed, and how start-ups emerge into becoming viable businesses. This 30-minute show focuses on the entrepreneur’s story of grit, highlighting both the highs and lows of building a business from the ground up. Not only that, the show also gives you inspiring ideas which are likely to trigger your own creativity. It is highly likely that you’d be able to come up with a business idea after watching a couple of episodes.
Shop Talk also features several social enterprises and innovations which offer solutions to some challenges we have in our society. That’s the beauty of social entrepreneurship –- being able to come up with solutions to better the lives of others, even the planet, while at the same time ensuring sustainability of the business.
And once you’ve been made aware of brands which impact communities for social good, wouldn’t you now want to opt for these brands?
If you are also into start-ups, social entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity, do check it out. Shoptalk airs on ANC Fridays, 7:30 in the evening, with re-runs over the weekend.
- Take charge of your own life. Be money smart.
Personal finance is a practical concern of everyone, even us millennials. As we start on our journey to self-actualization, career fulfillment, and the attainment of our many grandiose dreams, personal finance is a subject we cannot neglect. Failure to secure and stabilize this aspect of our lives can make or break the odds of us hitting our goals, and living the lifestyle we want to have. Financial insecurity can also cause anxiety, lack of confidence, and in severe cases, it can even cause depression. And for goal-getters like us, it’s a price we cannot afford to pay so while we can, we have to learn as much as we can about managing our finances well, and of course, do our best to stay disciplined towards achieving healthy finances.
These realizations made me appreciate ANC’s On The Money. Hosted by seasoned financial journalist and registered financial planner (RFP) Salve Duplito, and edupreneur (education entrepreneur) Edric Mendoza (RFP), On The Money gives tips, lessons, and strategies on saving, investing, and handling your finances.
Over the years, the show has experimented with several program formats but never has it wavered on its commitment to provide financial literacy — from money hacks, myths, money stories, celebrity money tips, lists and how-to guides, to in-depth discussions of financial concepts.
A significant portion of the show’s audience are millennials which also brought forth topics which are very relatable and relevant to the young population like beginners’ guides to investing in the stock market, and building emergency funds, as well as topics on career, personal branding, lifelong education, and travelling on a budget among others.
On The Money has also featured the financial journey of various people from all walks of life among them a single mother, a chef, business owners, and some big names like Robert Kiyosaki, and Suze Orman.
With Salve’s and Edric’s expertise and personal advocacy to push for financial literacy among Filipinos, the show is rich with genuine guides, easy to understand concepts, and contextualized strategies and even customized solutions to some case studies. The two main hosts have also been invited to deliver key note speeches, trainings, and workshops in the Philippines and abroad. These events are being featured on the show titled, “On The Road.”
This season, On The Money provides a refreshing peek into the personalities and decision-making processes of several registered financial planners invited to the show. The 1-hour program not only provides advice on personal finance, but more important, it gives macro perspective on the country’s economy, even the global market, and how these affects an individual and his/her decisions.
ANC’s On The Money airs Saturdays 3:00 PM, with replays throughout the week. You may also catch it on iWantTV.com.
Some segments of the show are also uploaded on the show’s Facebook page. See some of the segments I have produced for the show:
